Rosie's Story

Meet Rosie

Yellow Retriever Mix | 4.5 years | Female | ~65 lbs | Good with: Dogs and older children

Currently living in Toronto

Background

Rosie is a sweet and sensitive soul who was originally rescued from Mexico by Sea Paws Rescue and adopted in June 2022. She’s now being returned due to changes in her adopter’s household dynamics—no fault of her own. Rosie is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on her monthly preventatives. She’s in great health with no ongoing medical needs. Rosie can be a little anxious in certain situations like vet visits or nail trims, but handles them well with support (and sometimes a little prescribed anxiety med). She’s looking for a second chance with a forever family who understands her gentle nature.

Ideal Home

Rosie thrives in calm, predictable environments with patient humans who respect her boundaries. She’d do best in a quiet home, ideally with access to a yard or nature where she can enjoy her beloved sniff walks and porch lounging sessions. She’s done well with older, dog-savvy children she knows, but isn’t comfortable around toddlers and isn’t suited to homes with cats. Rosie enjoys the company of other dogs after slow introductions and has done great in daycare settings. A peaceful home where she can be her quirky, low-key self would be perfect.

Training & Activity

Rosie is a smart girl who knows a wide range of commands and responds well to positive reinforcement. She previously worked through separation and confinement anxiety with a trainer and is now comfortable being left alone for a few hours—especially with Judge Judy keeping her company in the background! While she’s not traditionally crate trained, she loves having an open crate as her safe space. Rosie enjoys daily walks, puzzle toys, and quiet indoor games, and while she’s not a fan of rainy weather, she’s always up for some mental stimulation indoors. She may show some leash reactivity to unfamiliar dogs, but it’s manageable with guidance and patience.

Summary

Rosie is a sweet and gentle soul looking for a second chance at her forever home. She will make the perfect addition to any family who is looking to welcome a warm and loving companion into their lives and support Rosie and give her the best live she deserves!

NOTE: All adoption applicants must be residents of Ontario, Canada to be considered.

Ready to give Rosie the forever home she deserves and a second chance at happiness?

Apply now: http://seapawsrescue.org/adoptionApplication.html

Sea Paws Rescue's Adoption Policy
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. All adult members of the household must attend the adoption interview. We prefer that applicants have lived at their current address for at least three months. This is to make sure that owners have had time to settle into their new surroundings, and provides stability for the new pup who themselves have already undergone multiple changes in a short time. Because young puppies require intensive training and care, we do not place puppies younger than 8 weeks of age in a home. Because of potential behavior/training concerns, we are very cautious when placing young pets in homes with children under the age of five. If applicants have another animal at home, they must introduce the animals properly. We want to make sure that their animal is happy with their selection and that the transition for both animals' will be relatively smooth. All adopters must take the animal to a veterinarian within one week of adoption as Sea Paws Rescue (SPR) does not screen for all diseases including, but not limited to, tick fever and heartworm. All further examinations and immunizations from the date of the adoption are at the adopter’s own expense. SPR makes no health guarantees or warranties. All adopters must understand that there will be an adjustment period and their pet may experience behavioural and/or health issues related to the change in environment. Adopters must seek professional assistance from a trainer and/or licensed veterinarian if they have concerns about issues related to the adjustment period. If at any time, for any reason, a SPR adopter decides not to keep their animal, they agree to return the animal back to a Sea Paws Rescue representative. Under no circumstance will the adopter surrender a SPR animal to a local shelter. In the event of a rehoming, no part of the adoption fee will be reimbursed.
