Rosie's Story

Meet Rosie — It’s HER turn now! IN LOUISIANA

Rosie is a 4–5 year old Lab/Hound mix who has been waiting a very long time for her happily-ever-after.

Rosie was found wandering a mobile home park in southern Louisiana. Everyone fed her, but no one claimed her. We were told she had already had several litters, but sadly, none of her puppies survived. When Rosie finally came into rescue, she was pregnant again — and went on to have 9 healthy puppies who she cared for beautifully. All nine are either adopted or in foster homes with Northern rescue partners.

And now... it’s Rosie’s turn to be taken care of.

Rosie has been with our Louisiana partner since January and has become a fan favorite with everyone who meets her. She is incredibly sweet, social, well-mannered and easygoing. She loves people of all ages and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She has great house manners and is just about the perfect age — past the puppy crazies and ready to enjoy life with her family.

Rosie is now spayed, heartworm treatment is complete, and she is ready to go!

She may not be the most “Labby” girl we’ve ever rescued, but we know one thing for sure — she has the sweet heart we all love about Labs.

Rosie is currently fostered in Louisiana and would love a Northern foster or, even better, her forever family.

After everything Rosie has been through, isn’t it finally time someone chose HER?

PLEASE NOTE: Our dogs are NOT local - we partner with a rescue group in Louisiana, who gets these dogs before they end up in a shelter. We bring them up to the Northeast on paid transport - this fee is included in the Adoption Fee. We mention this because it is not for everyone - to not personally meet a dog before adopting. So if you are okay with that and also live within a 60 mile radius of Long Island. PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT NYSRR.com to fill out our online application
