Rosie's Story

Rosie is looking for her third and hopefully final chance.

BASICS:
— Female
— 1 year 9 months old
— 45 pounds
— Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped

PERSONALITY: Sweet, loving, friendly, cuddly, snuggly, playful, precious. She enjoys sun bathing, lizard hunting, playing with dog friends, snuggling with her human. She will hop in a lake for a swim. Good walking/hiking buddy if that is your jam. She is a little shy at first, but blossoms quickly.

TRAINING: Potty trained, crate trained, completed basic obedience training program, knows how to use a dog door.

KIDS: Met kids aged 7+ and did well with them. No younger kid experience to speak on.

DOGS: Has done well with a variety of dogs. Currently lives with multiple medium-large dogs. She has also gone to doggy daycare and participated in group play.

CATS: Lived with cats for 8 months. She never showed aggression towards them, even played and snuggled with them sometimes, free fed around them with zero issue. She really wanted to play with them though which aggravated the kitties and played a bit rough sometimes. This ultimately led to an adoption return. She was the only dog in the home in this situation. Her tendency to annoy the kitties wanting to play or play too rough at times could *potentially* be countered by having another dog in the home to play with; where the kitties aren’t her only play buddy option. She may also do better with kitties that aren’t afraid to put her in her place and let her know when they don’t want to play. That however is just speculation – not a sure guarantee.

IDEAL HOME: Another dog to play with, fenced yard

BACKSTORY: Rosie was hit by a car in November 2024, breaking both her back legs along with a couple ribs. Rosie laid by a culvert with bone sticking out of her leg until a good Samaritan picked her up. Rosie’s owner never came forward and she joined our rescue. Rosie had 2 surgeries to repair her back legs and a long few month recovery — but both legs fully healed! Rosie joined her adopters in May 2025, but was unfortunately recently returned (see above “cats” paragraph) and back looking for her right match.

LOCATION: Currently in foster in Jackson, GA.

AVAILABILITY: Available for adoption or foster-to-adopt (FTA). FTA is a 2 week commitment-free trial run to make sure things are a fit before sealing the deal and officially adopting.

ADOPTION FEE: $150

APPLY TO ADOPT: joyspromise.org/adopt

–

Note: If you are interested in adopting, please COMPLETE AN APPLICATION THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. Inquiries on adoption sites is not an application. Your inquiry will not be seen until you complete an actual application at joyspromise.org/adopt

Rosie is from Joy's Promise Canine Rescue

[Jackson, GA]

Our Mission
Joy’s Promise is a promise to keep fighting for those like Joy. The discarded, unwanted, abused and neglected. It won’t always look like Joy, a pregnant mama facing euthanasia. It might be a pittie sitting animal control for months, years unwanted. It might be a boxer mix from a terrible hoarding case. It might be an owner ...
