Rosemary's Story

Rosemary is an approximately 11-year-old mixed breed dog with a gentle, quiet personality and very low energy level. DNA testing through Embark identified her as a mix of American Pit Bull Terrier, Labrador Retriever, Australian Cattle Dog, Golden Retriever, Chow Chow, Australian Shepherd, and Redbone Coonhound.

Rosemary spent at least five years surviving as a feral street dog before finally being safely trapped and brought into rescue. During her years on the streets, she had multiple litters of puppies that were rescued while Rosemary herself remained behind due to how fearful and difficult to catch she was. With the help of local residents and a trapper, she was eventually brought to safety and received needed medical care, including heartworm treatment.

Because of her history, Rosemary remains extremely fearful and skittish in new situations. She has significant lasting trauma from life on the streets and needs a patient, understanding adopter willing to give her time and space to settle into a home environment.

Rosemary enjoys a calm, predictable lifestyle. Her favorite things include sunbathing, eating snacks, sleeping, and spending quiet time around other dogs. She does very well with dogs and has previously been okay with cats. Due to her fearful nature, she is not a suitable match for homes with children.

Rosemary is looking for a very quiet, low-energy home with someone compassionate enough to let her adjust at her own pace and simply enjoy the comfort and safety she never had for most of her life.

If you are interetsed in opening your heart and home to Rosemary, please visit RedstoneHuskyRescue.org/adopt
