Rosemary's Story

Rosemary (whose friends call her Melly) has been to formal training at Pawlished and comes with support from them for life (reactive group classes, pack walks, email support). We been working hard in her foster home to help her learn strangers are not dangerous and that she can play with other dogs nicely. Adoption events are hard for her as they are filled with strangers and dogs which both scare her (until they aren't strangers anymore - she loves her people with her whole heart!).

Rosemary needs her forever home to understand:
* she is a BIG puppy at 65-70 pounds who is sometimes too playful to remember her manners so she jumps up on people
* she needs a single family home with a fenced in yard to ensure strangers or unknown dogs/cats do not enter her space without her parent's permission
* she barks loudly when she is scared to try to scare the things that are scaring her and force them to give her space. She can also bark for attention if she has not gotten enough exercise
* she needs patient adopters willing to do slow introductions to other dogs (she should be allowed to decompress at least a week before meeting)
* she needs her dog friends to be tolerant of rough play after they do meet
* she is warming up to cats, but wants to treat them like puppies and play rough now that she knows they won't hurt her

Stray Animal Adoption Program's Adoption Policy
The Adoption Process SAAP asks for a minimum donation at the time of the adoption. This request is always $300 or less (usually $150 – $250). We are required to collect sales tax on adoptions in the state of Kentucky. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept credit/debit cards. Cash or check is readily accepted. All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, micro chipped, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, flea and tick medication applied, and ready to go home with you when you meet them. We ask that you submit an adoption application. We will review and approve/deny your application in a timely manner. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a “Meet and Greet” appointment. Often times this is scheduled at the start of one of our regular adoption events. Frequently, we can make arrangements to meet at times/dates other than our usual events. At the “Meet and Greet” you will have time to make the final decision as to whether you wish to adopt the pet. If indeed you do make the decision to adopt the pet, there is a basic pet adoption contract to complete. The SAAP personnel that is assisting with your pet adoption will be happy to review the contract with you. SAAP does promote life long adoptions. In the unforeseen instance that you must surrender the pet, you must return the pet to SAAP. It is unfortunate, but we cannot return your adoption donation. Copyright 2014-2021 Kreyling Creative LL
