Rose's Story
From Kennel Life to Cuddle Life: Meet Rose

We’re so surprised that this little lady hasn’t had more interest yet!

Maybe it’s her age? Rose is 7½ years old — which is barely middle-aged for a small breed dog — and she has so many happy, love-filled years ahead. Or maybe it’s her coat? Her hair was kept short during her breeder days and became a bit stained, but it’s already growing out softer, longer, and whiter by the day. Just wait until you see her glow-up in person!

Rose is a 6.5-lb Maltese sweetheart who spent her early years as a breeder dog. Now, she’s learning what it means to be cherished — and she’s discovering that life as a loved pet is pretty wonderful.

She’s a little shy at first, but once she knows you’re kind, she absolutely loves to be held and cuddled. She’s gentle, quiet, and not at all nippy — just a tenderhearted girl who wants to love and be loved. Her foster mom says she’s blossoming more each day with patient care and affection.

Rose is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

Rose is currently working on potty training and is making good progress. She does a great job going outside when she is taken out, but she does not yet have a clear signal to let her foster know when she needs to go. After many years of kennel living, where she did not need to hold it, learning this routine will take time and patience. With consistency, understanding, and commitment from her adopter, potty training is very achievable for her.

Rose needs a home with another friendly dog who would be willing to snuggle with her and help build her confidence. She has always lived with other dogs, and their presence helps her feel safe and secure. Because she is still very shy, being left alone may be difficult for her, so a home with canine companionship would be ideal. A home where someone is present for a large portion of the day would also be strongly preferred to help her continue to feel safe and supported.

She would likely be fine with cats. Respectful children who understand how to handle tiny pups would be just fine too.

Rose may be small, but her heart is huge — and she’s ready to find someone who will help her continue her journey from kennel life to cuddle life.

Apply today to meet Rose at adoptapal.org/adopt adoption fee is $500.
