Rose's Story

NOTE: ROSE IS WITH HER PERSON IN FRESNO, CA. GSRSV HAS NOT MET ROSE. WE ARE LISTING HER ON THIS WEBSITE ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. SEE END OF THIS PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO.

“Rose” is a beautiful, approx 70-lb, 1½-yo spayed female German Shepherd who is energetic, friendly and somewhat shy. Rose is healthy and current on her core vaccinations.

Rose is fearful of strangers; when meeting people while on leash, she barks and growls at them, but all the while trying to hide behind her handler. In her own yard she alarm barks appropriately when people are nearby.

Rose’s former person says that she was good with children, but her present person (Connie) has not observed Rose with kids.

Rose is good with other dogs. She presently lives with a 20-lb female Maltese/Poodle who she wants to play with (but the smaller dog is intimidated by Rose’s size).

Rose has not lived with cats and given her prey drive towards squirrels, would likely not do well with cats. A home without cats is in order for Rose.

Rose is housetrained, but still has some puppy-like destructive behaviors such as chewing on extension cords (unplugged). Connie keeps her in the backyard during the day. Rose is full of energy; she likes to chew up sticks and digs holes in the yard. At night, Connie keeps Rose inside in a large wire crate.

Connie is not physically capable of walking Rose on leash, so she can’t say what kind of on-leash manners Rose has.

Rose loves to travel in a car and wants to sit in the passenger seat, as her former person was a young man who let her ride in the front seat with him to various jobs.

Rose loves to shred stuffed animals and chew on sticks and heavy-duty chew toys. She likes to bury some of her toys then dig them up later.

Connie took Rose in from the son of her car mechanic back in Aug 2024 when he lost his job and had to move into an apartment where he couldn’t bring Rose. Connie is very fond of Rose but she is simply way too large and energetic a dog for Connie to handle. Rose has already knocked Connie down once and nearly so several other times. Connie is seeking a new home for Rose in which she will receive considerable exercise and some much-needed obedience training.

Rose is located in Fresno. Her adoption fee is $100, per GSRSV’s insistence.

Please contact Connie Thron at (559) 229-2584 (landline for calls) or crtfresno@gmail.com.

“Rose” is a beautiful, approx 70-lb, 1½-yo spayed female German Shepherd who is energetic, friendly and somewhat shy.
