Rooster in Foster's Story
1/25 update:

This weekend, our dogs are living their best foster lives during the winter storm. 🏡🐾
We're sharing a peek at some of our pups enjoying cozy couches, toys, and all the love. Many will be heading back to us this week, now extra ready for their forever person after getting a taste of home life.

Meet Rooster💙

Rooster is 1 year old and has been at MOAS 9 weeks. He is scared and shut down at the shelter. Our winter storm brought the blessing of getting even the most scared of our pups into a home for the weekend, and Rooster is doing great! Read his foster mom's words below:

"I have the honor of fostering Rooster during the ice storm, and he is awesome!
I don't think he has ever been in a home before. He kept mostly to one room most of the first day, but he's really settled in and opened up over the past few days!

Some great things I've learned about Rooster:
He's the perfect sized package - he can be scooped up and held under your arm or be curled up into a tight little ball! So cute!🥹
He's great with my other dogs, letting them sniff and circle without concern. He even has started to play with them!🐕🦺
He does twirls when he's excited!🕺
He's easy going - not hyper, not boring - chill and willing to go with the flow.😌
He's great on a leash - Doesn't pull, takes direction!🦮

Rooster's name makes you think of bravado - almost cockiness. That's not Rooster at all. He puts on a brave front, but needs a little encouragement to move forward. He wants reassurance that he's right to do all the things that young pups like him want to do. To explore and play.

We just had our first snuggle session after a few days together, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait!🥹 It's not that he avoided me before, he just didn't know what to hope for. And I think that's Rooster in a nutshell. He doesn't know what's possible - to be in a home, to be loved, to be secure. "

I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!🥹 This is beautiful! We love our foster families for giving every single one of our dogs a chance this weekend!

Consider applying to meet Rooster who will be returned to the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter this week --> https://www.moaspets.com/adoptionapp

1/12 update:
Meet Rooster 🐔❤️

Rooster is a 1-year-old, 45-pound sweetheart who came to the shelter with his brother, Maverick. Just like him, Rooster has a gentle soul and a whole lot of love waiting to bloom.

Rooster is the kind of dog who wants to be brave. He'll greet you through the kennel gate, tail wagging, almost pleading for affection. When you open the door, he leans his head forward like he's ready to step out into the world... but fear stops him. Once the leash comes out, he freezes -- not because he doesn't want to go, but because he's still learning that the world can be kind.🥺

If you sit with him in his kennel, he'll inch close -- just close enough to say, "I want you to pet me"-- even if he can't quite bring himself to be fully bold yet. It's heartbreakingly sweet.💔

Rooster isn't broken. He's not shut down. He's simply a sensitive boy who lacks confidence and needs someone patient enough to help him find it. He is very dog friendly and came in with a group of dogs, including his brother. He's been kenneled successfully with both family and non-family dogs, and we truly believe another confident canine companion could help him blossom.

Rooster has that lovely young-dog balance: playful when he feels safe, mellow enough to enjoy quiet affection. In the right home with gentle guidance, consistency, and love, this boy is going to shine.🌞

If you're the kind of person who understands that confidence can be taught and trust is earned, Rooster is waiting for you. And when he finally believes in himself? You'll know you were part of something really special. 🐾💛

Come by the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, Wednesday-Saturday, 12-5pm or Sunday, 12-4pm and ask staff to help you meet Rooster. Or let us help you set up a meet by applying for him here --> https://www.moaspets.com/adoptable-dogs

Meet Rooster!
Rooster is a 1-year-old, 45-pound sweetheart who came in alongside his brother, Maverick. Just like his sibling, Rooster has a gentle nature and a heart full of love to give.

He's a truly sweet boy who wants nothing more than a family to adore him. Rooster has that perfect young-dog balance--playful enough to enjoy toys and fun, yet mellow enough to settle in for cuddles. He's easy to love and so deserving of a home where he can feel safe, valued, and cherished.

If you're searching for a loyal, affectionate companion who will brighten your days, Rooster is ready to be your new best friend. 🐾❤️Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.

Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Our shelter intakes double or triple it's capacity every month so it is essential we place animals quickly into adoptive homes. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.

Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
All adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, and spay or neuter, microchip, and adoption packet.
Fees:
Dogs over 6 months old: $100
Puppies under 6 months: $200.
Cats and Kittens are $75 ($65 without microchip).

For your convenience you can fill out an adoption application for any of our current residents at www.moaspets.com. Join us on Facebook at
https://www.facebook.com/moaspets. It's a great way to stay up to the minute on the furry 4 legged friends we have looking for a loving forever home.
We are located at:
1888 Colbert Danielsville Rd
Danielsville, GA 30633
706-795-2868

NOTE: Our adoptions are first come first served, simply filling out an application does not mean the animal will be held for you, you must come meet the animal in person in order to be considered for adoption.
If you rent you must bring your lease or a letter from your landlord stating you may adopt.
