Rooby's Story

Rooby is a 5-year-old female Mastiff mix who’s ready to be the best companion you could ever ask for! Affectionate, playful, and incredibly intelligent, Rooby loves cuddles, playing fetch, and solving puzzles. If you have a backyard, she’ll be in heaven! Rooby loves running around and playing with her humans, especially when it involves tennis balls and treats hidden in piles of leaves or snow. It’s so much fun to watch her work hard to find her treasures, and she’s always happy to have her human friends help her search for her favorite ball.

Rooby would thrive in a home where she’s the only pet. Rooby is a polite, well-mannered girl, but she does prefer a bit of space from other dogs and unfamiliar people. She would greatly benefit from an experienced handler who can advocate for her need for a little extra space on walks or when meeting new people. Rooby responds incredibly well to positive reinforcement and will amaze you with her great manners and wonderful disposition when introductions to new people are slow, gentle, and stress-free.

Rooby is also fantastic on muzzled walks—in fact wearing the muzzle helps her feel more calm and relaxed on walks. She is always proud of herself when she’s rewarded with tasty treats through it. It’s a joy to watch her be so content and confident while wearing her muzzle, and her adorable, proud expression is guaranteed to melt your heart.

She’s a smart girl who thrives on making her humans proud! We believe that as Rooby becomes more comfortable with her human family, her potential to embrace new experiences will be unlimited! She is a true favourite of the staff and volunteers here at the THS.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate dog who will bond deeply with you and be your best friend for life, Rooby is the one for you. Come meet this gem of a dog today and see what a wonderful companion she could be!
