Meet Roo <br/>Roo is a sweet and gentle 4-year-old Hound mix weighing around 45 pounds, with a beautiful white coat sprinkled with brindle spots. After spending her entire life in a home, Roo has experienced more change than any dog should have to endure.<br/>Recent life changes for her owner meant that Roo was moved from home to home over the past few months, never knowing where she would land next. Eventually, she found herself in a situation where she was attacked by resident dogs, and with nowhere else for her to go, she was surrendered to the shelter.<br/>That's where CARE met Roo-and we quickly fell in love with her gentle, loving personality. <br/>Despite everything she has been through, Roo hasn't let her difficult experiences change the sweet girl she is. She has done wonderfully with all of the dogs in her shelter playgroup as well as CARE's assessment dog. Roo tends to be more of a "do my own thing" kind of girl, but she also enjoys getting out and running around with the pack.<br/>She isn't a high-energy dog and has happily left her puppy days behind her. What Roo really wants is something much simpler: a safe, stable home and a person or family who will show her that she is finally home for good.<br/>Roo has had so much uncertainty in her life lately, and we know the right home can help her blossom again. She deserves the chance to decompress, build her confidence, and receive the love and consistency she's been missing.<br/>If you're looking for a gentle, easygoing companion who is ready for a fresh start, Roo may be your girl. <br/><br/>Roo is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $300.<br/><br/>Roo is in the Paws in Prison program, where she receives basic obedience training. She will graduate from Paws in Prison on 10/31/2026. The dogs in this program are provided basic level training under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. So, there will be an adjustment period as they adjust to their new family schedule.<br/><br/>For this reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive his training journal.
