ROO - LOCATED IN MAINE's Story
ROO’s Story — The One That Breaks Our Hearts

ROO just turned one this September. A goofy, sweet, soulful hound mix who should be celebrating his first birthday surrounded by love and stability.

But instead, Roo’s story has been one of heartbreak and disappointment.

He was adopted as a tiny puppy in December 2024 — full of hope, tail wags, and trust. Ten months later, he was returned to us… with little to no training, no structure, and no understanding of what he did wrong. ROO went to an in board training for 3 weeks to give him some structure, training and love.

Since coming back to us in August, ROO’s life has been a whirlwind — foster homes, adjustment after adjustment — yet through it all, this boy’s heart has remained open. He still loves. He still trusts. He still hopes.

ROO is an energetic hound mix who thrives when he’s given what every hound deserves — exercise, companionship, and consistency. He’s learning every day — no more counter surfing, no more darting out doors, and he’s getting better about settling. But being crated makes him anxious… this boy wants to be with his people.

He needs someone who works from home or is home often — someone patient, kind, and committed. Someone who has another playful dog to be his buddy and help him feel secure. He loves other dogs!!! We do not recommend small children as ROO has a lot of energy!

Because ROO? He’s so worth it.

He loves snuggles at night, buries his head into your chest when he’s tired, and looks up at you with eyes that say, “please don’t give up on me.”

ROO has been our biggest heartbreak. People have failed him, but we won’t.

We are determined to find the person who sees him — really sees him — and gives him the forever he’s been waiting for.

Because ROO deserves everything and then some.

Could you be ROO'S forever home? Please go to www.calebsopus.org for an application!

All dogs are spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. Note: Caleb's Opus is licensed to adopt in the State of Maine.
