6/12/2015: Romy is a super cute Chocolate Lab. She’s extremely friendly and sweet-natured and a happy girl. She gets along with other dogs. She is 6 years old and weighs 66 lbs. She’s an active an playful girl and she loves to go for walks. She is house trained.

Romy would probably do best in a home with someone who is home quite a bit or has another dog to keep her company. She loves having companionship. We've taken her to many satellite adoption events and she loves meeting new people.

Romy has a good appetite-- unfortunately, she has a taste for socks and other fabric materials! We took her in because she had a blockage due to swallowing a sock and needed surgery to remove it. Her family had already paid for a previous surgery to remove a blockage from a sock, and could not afford another surgery and weren’t able to keep socks and other fabrics away from her. She’d eaten several things over the years but most of the others had passed through. We did surgery to remove the most recent blockage and Romy’s doing fine now. She will need a home with someone who is diligent about keeping socks and other fabric items away from her reach. She would not be a good match for someone with young kids only because of her sock/fabric eating issue and the likelihood of kids leaving something out that she may swallow. She is kid friendly though so can absolutely be around kids.

Romy has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. She’s a real sweetheart!

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
