Romeo and 5 siblings were born on August 2 to a scruffy white mommy(pictured) who weighed about 30#. The owner took mommy in when the previous owner moved and left her behind. THEN the new owner discovered she was pregnant. Daddy is a mystery man. The family asked if PUP could take the unexpected litter and help them get the mommy spayed. We happily agreed. <br/><br/>Romeo started out completely white but now his ears are tan and he is getting a tan spots in his coat. We are calling pup an American Eskimo/Cattle Dog because that is what he looks like to us. We did DNA testing on one pup from the litter, Willa B. Only one breed, German Shepherd, was in double digits at 17%. All the rest were less than 10%. Here it is: Border Collie, Australian Cattle Dog, Miniature American Shepherd, Collie, Australian Shepherd, American Staffordshire Terrier, Boxer, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Akita, Alaskan Malamute, Chow, Siberian Husky, Samoyed, Chinese Shar-Pei, Labrador Retriever, American Cocker Spaniel, golden Retriever, American Field Pointer, Poodle, American Eskimo, Poodle, Bichon Frise, Saint Bernard, Basset Hound and Chihuahua. We believe he will be mid-sized when full grown, maybe 45# or so. That is best guess and the adopter should be prepared to love him if he is larger or smaller than predicted. That is best guess and the adopter should be prepared to love him if he is larger or smaller than predicted. <br/><br/>Romeo is reliably using newspapers in the house and he is enjoying spending time outdoors with his siblings. <br/><br/>The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. <br/><br/>Puppy has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done by 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered by 6 months.<br/><br/>If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.
