Romeo's Story

Romeo is a gorgeous chocolate lab/pit mix. His eyes match his coat. He is very shy around new people and does not warm up quickly. He needs someone who is dedicated to spending time with him to get to know him and to build trust.

He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped

Animal Preservation of East Texas (APET)'s Adoption Policy
We have potential adopters apply for the animal they are wishing to adopt. We try to have an indepth conversation about what kind of pet they are seeking, which ones would be the best fit for them, and do they have the necessary home environment for the animal they wish to adopt. If we feel they meet the criteria for the home, we then ask to be allowed to contact their vet to make sure any other animals on the home are spayed/nuetered and up to date on vaccines. If we have any doubts at all, we schedule a home visit. We go out to the adopter's home and check their fence, their home, and any other animals they own. All of their own animals must be spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccines or they are not allowed to adopt any of ours. If everything passes inspection, they adoption is allowed to proceed and they return to the shelter to pick up the animal. Most times however, just having a conversation is sufficient. We make a copy of their ID, we have them fill out the application, we go over the most important parts of the application that we feel they need to pay attention to, and we allow the adoption to proceed.
