Roland's Story

Roland was born in January 2021 and has been with his family since he was just 8 weeks old. He is neutered, housebroken, and kennel trained.

He is friendly and affectionate with adults and can be a wonderful companion once he feels comfortable. He can be somewhat skittish, so he will do best with people who are patient and willing to give him time to decompress, gain confidence, and build trust.

The most important consideration with Roland is finding a home that understands and can appropriately manage his history with children and food. He has snapped at a toddler, and can become reactive when food or people food is involved.

Because of this history, a home without young children is required. Older, dog-savvy children may be considered on an individual basis, depending on their age and experience with dogs.

Roland’s food-related behavior will need to be managed carefully. He should be given appropriate space around meals and human food, and adopters should be comfortable maintaining consistent boundaries and management.

Friendly and affectionate with adults
Housebroken
Fully kennel trained
Neutered
Generally good with other dogs
Plays well and has lived with another beagle for years (not very bonded but does play/engage with other dogs)
Loves food
Somewhat skittish and may need time to settle in
Not considered a good fit for cats or other animals

Roland's Ideal Home

We are looking for:

• An adult-only home or a home with older, dog-savvy children
• Someone experienced with dogs, preferably Beagles or similar breeds
• Someone comfortable managing food-related behavior
• A home without cats or other animals
• A calm, predictable environment
• Someone patient with somewhat skittish dogs
• A family willing to give them time to decompress and build trust

If you think Roland could be a good fit for your family, we’d love to hear from you!

Thank you for considering Roland!
