Rocky's Story

Rocky is an affectionate people lover who relishes having a paw in all you’re up to! A very handsome three year old yellow Lab, he’s a perfect 70 pounds. Rocky joins us from a loving family who wanted the best for him, but could no longer care for him.
Rocky is an eager to please pup who’s house trained, crate trained and knows sit. Treats are taken gently. Rocky loves meeting new people and may want to come up close and personal to meet you, but a with gentle reminder he keeps four-on-the-floor. Other dogs find him an easy going playful pal; we don’t know about cats. On leash he’s an-on-the-go guy ready to sniff and explore. A front clip type walking harness or Gentle Leader is best. When we asked Rocky about his faves he was quick to woof, “Being with my peeps, outside time for toasting the sun, going on walks and car rides, and meeting dog friends. Toys? They are a bit of a mystery at the moment.”

Rocky’s foster mom adds:
“Rocky is a very sweet boy who has gone through some major life changes in the past few weeks. He seems to have an 'old soul' and is pretty calm, but is a go-getter on walks. Rocky has not had a lot of love in his life until recently so he is rather insecure and loves affection. He is a very resilient dog who has spent most of his life as an 'outside' dog with little attention. He has transitioned very well to an 'inside' dog who thrives with lots of attention.

“The best forever home for Rocky? I think it will be with someone who can give him a lot of love and affection, and doesn't care if he gets on the furniture or sleeps on the bed. He loves to be close to his 'person'. Maybe another dog would be good for him to play with, build his confidence, and show him how to enjoy life like a loved family member.”
