ROCKY's Story
Rocky may come across as calm and easygoing in the shelter, but once he gets outside, he reveals his true personality: a friendly, “young at heart” older dog with a lot of charm. The moment he hopped out of the car on his recent Doggy Day Out, he lit up and showed how social and engaging he can be. Rocky is an exceptionally friendly dog who enjoys meeting new people. During his DDO, he visited several dog-friendly businesses, greeted patrons and staff, and spent time relaxing on the patio. He handled interactions with all ages comfortably and politely. He appears to know the “sit” command and takes treats gently. He also demonstrated good house-training habits by only relieving himself on grass or appropriate areas. Rocky rode calmly in the car and quickly tuned in to his handlers, showing he is attentive and eager to connect. While out and about, Rocky passed other dogs on walks without any issues and was even able to relax near them on patios. He did show interest in greeting other dogs and would sometimes whine, but he was easily redirected. Rocky is a well-mannered, social older dog who still has plenty of life, love, and enthusiasm to share. He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a steady, friendly, and engaging partner.

Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.
