Rocky's Story

Rocky is a sweet 3–4 year-old little guy weighing about 15 pounds. He was surrendered to the shelter when his owner could no longer care for him, and this poor boy came in absolutely matted and terrified. The shelter even had to sedate him just to safely remove the awful mats from his coat.
Thanks to his foster mom, Rocky now has a second chance. He’s learning that people can be kind, and he’s already showing his friendly, gentle side. He gets along well with other dogs and has warmed up beautifully to every person he’s met since leaving the shelter.
Rocky is heartworm positive, which happened because he was not given prevention in his previous home. We will be treating him with the slow-kill method, and his adopter will need to continue this treatment as directed until he tests negative.

All our pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated including rabies, given de-wormer, heartworm negative or being treated with the slow kill method approved by our veterinarian, on prevention, on flea/tick prevention, most are house trained. The majority but not all of our pets require a fence. Experienced pet home with verifiable vet references/history preferred, but we realize that everyone has to start somewhere, so all applications will be considered. We adopt within 300 miles of New Orleans/Baton Rouge, La and we do not ship or transport--Adoption fee $300. Email us at creolepoodlerescue@yahoo.com to get an adoption application. Complete an adoption form and email it back to us (we do not have a FAX) if interested in adopting and providing a loving home for this pet. If you can't email it to us, you can mail it to P.O. Box 2333, Gonzales, La 70707, but this will slow the process down.

When you request an adoption application, we will also send you our guidelines to read - many questions you may have are answered there. All of our pets are in private foster homes. We require a completed, approved application BEFORE setting up a meeting for any of our pets. Everything we know at this time about this pet is posted.IF YOU SEE THIS PET POSTED ON OUR ADOPTABLE PETS PAGE, THIS PET IS AVAILABLE. WE UPDATE OUR ADOPTABLE PETS SEVERAL TIMES DAILY. IF THE WORD PENDING IS NEXT TO THE NAME, THE PET HAS AN APPROVED ADOPTER COMING TO MEET AND PROBABLY ADOPT HIM OR HER. We reserve the right to refuse adoption for any reason.

We are all VOLUNTEERS and have full time jobs, families, pets of our own to care for - we do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. Please realize that turning in an application today will not mean that you adopt a poodle tomorrow. We believe in taking the time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the family.
