Rocky's Story

Update: Rocky has now been with us for almost 2 years and he is still in need of a forever home. He is an absolutely great dog and we can not understand why he is still waiting for someone to take him home :(

This boy was 8 months old when he arrived at the county shelter. He remained there until his first birthday 4 months later, when he was gifted with a spot on the euthanasia list. The shelters were overcrowded with the growing need for space to support their new surrenders, and no one had shown any interest in adopting Rocky all that time. So, unfortunately, he had to go.

We learned of his plea and how he only had less than an hour left to be saved. We saw that he was a perfectly healthy and lovable pooch with a bright future if only given more time. We decided then and there that Greenawalds Service would take him under its wing. He’s shown himself to be a very sweet and playful guy with lots of boundless energy. However, due to spending most of his formative months in a shelter kennel, he had absolutely no manners. But, he was still a puppy! This means he can be easily trained and taught how to behave properly.

Rocky has now been under the rescue for over a year, and we have got to learn his personality which is quite goofy, but extremely affectionate. Rocky loves to hug. He has learned basic commands and only jumps up (gently) to hug you. He likes to lay on tables in the sun and thinks he should be a lap dog and will make an excellent addition to any loving home.
