Rocky's Story

Rocky is looking for his forever family!

— Male
— 9 months old (est. DOB 9/5/25)
— 40ish growing pounds
— Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped
— In foster with other medium dogs
— Potty, crate, basic obedience trained
— Sweet, people loving, active

PERSONALITY: Sweet, friendly, loves people, very handler focused, desire to please, uber food motivated, active, playful

DOGS: With proper introductions, Rocky has been good with other dogs. He is currently in foster with two other dogs and has met others. The trainer can likely help with intros if needed.
From the trainer… “Resident dogs — possible, with a formal parallel introduction. Rocky has demonstrated dog-neutral behavior with multiple dogs at our facility. Any resident dog should be evaluated before placement.”

CATS: Unsure

KIDS: Possible. From the trainer… “Supervised children — suitable based on zero documented offensive aggression and appropriate social behavior throughout his program.”

TRAINING: Crate trained. 99% potty trained — he gets so excited when foster first gets that he forgets to go outside sometimes and has an excited tinkle, but it’s being worked on. Rocky has also completed several day sessions with a professional trainer. He has worked on basic obedience, sit, down, place, yes/no, away, loose leash walking, environmental socialization, pack walks, agility course introductions.

IDEAL HOME: From the trainer….
“Active household — Rocky is a young, driven dog. He needs daily mental and physical engagement. A sedentary environment will produce behavior problems over time.

Owner committed to continuing training — Rocky has a strong foundation. His adopter must be willing to maintain and build on what he has learned. Hands-off ownership is not a match for this dog.”

HISTORY: Rocky and his believed sister were found at a healthcare business. They were wormy, a little underweight, and the sister limping, but Rocky had a collar on. We held them for their stray hold before officially intaking them, but unfortunately no owner ever came forward and the rest of their history remains a mystery.

LOCATION: Currently in foster in Eatonton, GA

AVAILABILITY: Available for adoption or foster-to-adopt (FTA). FTA is a 2 week commitment-free trial run to make sure things are a fit before sealing the deal and officially adopting.

ADOPTION FEE: $150

APPLY TO ADOPT: joyspromise.org/adopt

–

Note: If you are interested in adopting, please COMPLETE AN APPLICATION THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. Inquiries on adoption sites is not an application. Your inquiry will not be seen until you complete an actual application at joyspromise.org/adopt

Our Mission
Joy’s Promise is a promise to keep fighting for those like Joy. The discarded, unwanted, abused and neglected. It won’t always look like Joy, a pregnant mama facing euthanasia.
