Rocket's Story

Name: Rocket
Sex: Male
Breed: Hound mix
Age: 8 yo
Weight: 75 pounds
Needs: Quiet home, with no young children, preferred — teens okay. Rocket can get anxious in very noisy environments causing him to pace and bark.
Cats: unknown
Dogs: Good with most, meet and greet will be required.
Rocket would love nothing more than a quiet home where he can play, take naps and be cuddled. He LOVES being tucked into a blanket on the couch (wrapped up with just his face out, see photos). He enjoys riding in the car. He is treat and food motivated, he’s been fed 2x daily, morning & late afternoon, and at meal time, he will kindly remind you by laying by his dish expectantly. He enjoys laying in the sun when its warm, he dislikes the rain and getting wet, he would rather hold his pee all day. Like many dogs, he is afraid of thunder/fireworks. He is completely house trained and will pace by the door when he needs to go. You will be alerted to any delivery trucks arriving, they are scary! On walks he has been known to lunge at large trucks and can sometimes bark at other dogs. We recommend having treats at the ready and turning his back away from these triggers, have him sit (with a tight, short hold on his leash) keep his attention as they pass. For this reason we also suggest walking trails, or if on the road, less busy times of the day. Rocket has attended daycare without issues and that is where he has been groomed, nails cut etc. He does best with treats during nail trims. (not a fan of the dremel tool) He loves chewing nyla bones.
Interested? Please complete an adoption application at www.survivortails.org and email adoptions@survivortails.org
STAR is a licensed rescue in NH & MA only, we are a 501c charitable organization.
