Robin's Story

Meet Robin!
Robin is a 3 year old neutered male Lab/Heeler mix. He might look familiar to you, as he has been at the shelter before. Robin was first surrendered to us back in August, and has spent the past few month in Colby helping to train vet tech students. Now that the semester is over, he is back to searching for a forever home!
Robin first came to us because his owners had an accidental litter of puppies, and the dogs were starting to become a handful. They were chasing their owner's sheep, and one of Robin's sisters ended up killing one of them. Due to this history, we will not be adopting Robin to any homes with livestock. Robin has been around other dogs before, and typically does well with them. In his first home, he and his siblings did start to fight over food, so he should be watched around other pets during feeding time to make sure there is no food aggression.
Robin has had to have a couple of surgeries recently, and is still healing. One of his salivary glands ruptured, potentially due to playing too rough with other dogs, and was leaking. He is still healing from the most recent surgery, so it is important to be gentle with him for the time being. We aren't putting any collars on him yet, and when he gets adopted his new owner will need to be cautious to ensure they aren't injuring him.
Robin has never had the opportunity to live in a home, and is going to need some patience as he adjusts. In his first home, he was kept with his siblings in an outdoor pen, and was never trained. Since coming to the shelter in August, he has spent most of his days in a kennel. Robin is an incredibly sweet boy, but with no training he is hoping to need some patience as he gets used to your home. He is not housebroken, and doesn't know any commands. He also is frightened of some things that most dogs love, like certain toys, because he never saw them before coming to us. Don't let this deter you from considering Robin, though, as he really is such a loving boy! He wants to be by your side at all times, and is very eager to please. With the right owner and some dedication, training him shouldn't be too much of an issue!
Robin is up to date on his vaccinations and ready to finally be in a loving home! If you think this sweetheart could be the dog for you, come in and meet him today!
