Roady's Story

Roady was found dumped on the side of the road with 3 siblings, doing whatever he had to do to survive… including eating a dead deer. Despite that heartbreaking start, he is one of the sweetest, happiest, cuddliest puppies you could imagine.

He’s now safe in a foster home with his brother, soaking up love, playing nonstop, and showing us just how joyful he truly is. And oh my goodness—this boy is SO. SOFT. Like, can’t-stop-petting-him soft.

Roady will need a special adopter, and we want to be fully transparent. He has something called angular limb deformity in his front right leg. In very non-technical terms… his leg is a little wonky. The vet suspects elbow dysplasia, and his radius is growing faster than his ulna, which causes his leg to bow outward and twist inward. You’ll notice it most later in the day—his knee bends out, his toes turn in, and he walks a bit differently.

👉 You can see how his leg moves in the video we’re posting with this—both when he’s walking toward the camera and when he’s walking away.
👉 Please ignore the dirty floors 😅 There are a LOT of dogs in this house, and we promise we’re cleaning today!

What’s important to know is that this does not slow him down at all. Roady plays, runs, wrestles, and keeps up with other puppies like a champ. He loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home and has been great with the cats as well. We don’t have kids in the home, but there’s no reason to think he wouldn’t do just fine with them. Roady is about 3 months old now and we have no idea what breed(s) he is.

As for the future, there’s some uncertainty. His leg may stay just as it is, could improve as he grows and gains strength, or could potentially become more of an issue over time—we simply don’t know yet.

What we do know is this:
Roady is funny, affectionate, incredibly sweet, unbelievably soft, and every bit as deserving of a loving home as any of the non-wonky-legged puppies out there.

If you’re someone who sees the heart first and understands that “perfect” comes in many forms… Roady might just be your guy 🐾💙

Adoption fee: $500 (includes vaccines to date, microchip, and neuter surgery)
Apply at www.lakesideanimalrescue.com
