My name is River, and I am a GORGEOUS German Shepherd boy who has overcome being a tripod by NEVER letting it slow me down! I LOVE to go for long walks, play tug of war, and romp in a fenced yard like the speedy boy I am! I am working so hard at learning that cars and small animals are not there for me to chase. I am great with kids and ready to be your loyal companion, a boy who loves to cuddle and will always greet you with excitement and love at the end of your day! Pretty great, right? But cats are a no-go for me, as I think they are there to chase and chase and chase! A house full of kids and other dogs...yep, I could fit right in! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a preadoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can! Tail wags and cuddles-River **The ADOPTION FEE for this pet is $400-450.00, which includes getting the puppy/dog up to date on rabies, distemper and bordetella vaccines, fecal test and deworming if necessary, heartworm test, spay or neuter (not including pre-surgical bloodwork) and a microchip. Free access to our weekly training classes is also included for the life of the dog, something no other rescue in the area offers.***

Chicagoland Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy

First step is to decide if you are ready for a long term commitment owning a dog. Ask yourself if you are ready for vet bills, cost of food, training the dog, and what would happen to him/her if you became ill. Once you have decided you are ready for the commitment, the next step is to come to an adoption show and meet the dog you are interested in. Sometimes people fall in love with a picture, only to find another dog at the show better suits what they are looking for. Please remember to bring all family members, including dog(s), who live at the home to meet the new dog. We do not adopt out dogs as gifts.

Chicagoland Dog Rescue (CDR) brought a few people together who had been doing rescue work on their own. Our common goal is to rescue dogs that suffer at the hands of cruel or ignorant owners, owner give-aways, or those that are homeless. We are a small group of volunteers who work full time jobs and try to help as many dogs...
