RIVER's Story

Meet River (A564808), this boy is one of our longest stay dogs. He arrived January 15th as a stray, and spent quite some time in our kennels here at the shelter where he was consistently overlooked. Thankfully for River, an amazing foster stepped up for him and he has been in foster care for several weeks now. Here's what his fosters have to say about River: River is an energetic and friendly dog who enjoys both activity and downtime. He walks very well on a leash and would be a great match for someone who enjoys regular walks or outdoor time. He is currently learning basic commands and building confidence in new situations. While he is not fully trained yet, he is highly treat motivated and progressing quickly with consistent guidance. At home, he likes snuggling on the couch, belly rubs, and staying close to his people. He loves riding in the car and going to new trails around town. His favorite toy is a rope for tug-of-war. He is social with other dogs and has done well with kids. He is generally quiet and not prone to barking. He is very sweet and people-oriented. He is recovering from a flea allergy that has caused a little bald spot that he’s currently regrowing, but he’s still super handsome. He’s a super sweet dog that loves playing and exploring as much as he loves snuggling. If he seems like a good fit, please reach out! River is guesstimated to be 2 years old and weighs 62 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative. Ready to meet River? Please reach out to his foster at ahangie561@gmail.com All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID.
