River's Story

Prairie Pooches Rescue has River officially looking for her forever home! Here is what her foster mom has to say:

This girl hasn’t had the best start as she was picked with a severe leg injury and had to have a back leg amputated. This hasn’t slowed this girl down by any means.
How I explain or describe this lady is calm, committed and intelligent. She is outside and inside with my 1 year old female coon hound and has been doing so good. We have been to the vet a couple of times doing suture removal and she walked in like she was an old veteran. Is doing great on leash and does not pull at all. She has lots of freedom now that her injuries have healed. Runs with me off leash around our farm yard. Have taken her on long walks out in our pasture unleashed. My coon hound would take off but not her. She listens so good when you call her name she runs to you, she is so responsive, smart and loyal. We live a very busy life and she has adapted so amazingly well. Just such a content quiet lady and would not destroy anything in the house. She doesn’t jump up at all.

We are just working on commands and she knows sit, lay, wait and through and leave it. Super comfortable in the house. Noise and people don’t bother her at all, 0 anxiety. This last week we have had some renovations in our house noise and people did not bother her at all. She has been cat tested we have a lot of cats on the farm. She sees them but doesn’t bother with them at all. We also have livestock and she doesn’t bark and is very relaxed around them. We have not child tested her yet but will be doing it soon as I am getting my 3 year old grandson for 10 days. I am anticipating it will be really good. Overall whoever adopts her will be one lucky family.

Prairie Pooches Rescue is a volunteer and foster based rescue. All our dogs are in foster homes and approved adopters are required to meet the dogs at the foster homes.

Adoption fee is $300. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinations UTD, dewormed and microchipped. Adoption applications and home visits are done for all adoptions. Please fill out an application if interested on our website www.prairiepoochesrescue.com

****Due to an overwhelming amount of emails and phone calls we receive we will only respond to ones that have an application attached. Thank you****
