Hi there! My name is Rio and I'm a 3 year old Male German Shepherd Mix currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home!<br/><br/>Meet Rio! While this guy may not be a colorful bird, he is definitely ready to spread his wings and find a place to call home! Rio is a handsome German Shepherd whose journey started when he was found as a stray in Fresno. His finder brought him to safety along with another dog, and it was clear that Rio absolutely loved his canine companion. While his friend has since found a home, Rio is now patiently waiting for his own happy ending. Since he's been with us, we've learned that Rio is a "people" dog. He loves spending time with his humans and is always ready for attention, especially if it includes a good belly rub! He also loves toys and enjoys having fun with the people he trusts. Rio is a strong, active boy who will need a home ready to provide him with continued training, structure, and appropriate outlets for his Shepherd brain and energy. He would thrive with a family who understands that Shepherds are intelligent, active dogs and who is willing to continue helping him build confidence and social skills. A home that can provide regular exercise, enrichment, and plenty of time with his people would be ideal.<br/><br/>If you're looking for a loyal adventure buddy with a playful side, a love for toys, and if you have plenty of belly rubs to give, Rio might just be ready to fly into your heart!<br/><br/>Like all animals at Santa Barbara Humane, before going home I will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped . My adoption also includes a complimentary post-adoption health exam with a participating local veterinary clinic as well as a supply of Hill's Science Diet food to help make my first few days at home a little easier.<br/><br/>If you're ready to welcome me or another animal into your family, stop by during adoption hours-daily from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Wednesdays. No appointment or advance notice is r equired!<br/><br/>Need to pick up a few essentials before heading home? Visit the retail center at either Santa Barbara Humane campus, where you'll find toys, treats, collars, leashes, and more at competitive prices.
