Riley's Story

We have no idea how we were so lucky to land this little guy, but the stars are going to smile in someone's world. If all our fosters weren't already animal heavy, he would not be up for adoption.

While we don't know the full story, Riley was crated most of his first months, owners were unable to care for him due to medical conditions. He arrived without training of any sort and completely lacked manners. But we think he finally has potty-training down pat, he sits, walks very well on a leash, and knows how to take treats nicely. He's getting to be a champion fetch-player. Getting there is the key word.

What we do know - Riley is a lover. He loves to cuddle; he loves to be with people. He's not overly clingy, just loves to be near people and snuggle for some movies. He really does love children. Loves to play with them, snuggle and comfort them.

Riley LOVES to play. He loves other dogs so much that he
watches tv just to watch other dogs. He will sit and enjoy dogs playing on TV as much as he enjoys playing with other dogs himself. A smaller play companion for him would be a joyful benefit. I am sure if he could write his own bio, he would add that playdates would be required if another dog was not in the home.

We are unsure about other animals or cats, but we think he'd be just fine.

He isn't terrified of the crate, as one would think. He sleeps well in his crate during the night.

Riley is part yorkie, which are known runners. We really prefer a fence for him, he's small and fast. We try to match our dogs with the best possible living situations for them to have a long and healthy life.

We know he will generate a lot of interest, please patient with the volunteer who processes applications. If you do apply, make sure to call your current vet to provide permission to give a reference to shelter angels when called.
