She was just a number on a list. And then, the worst news: Riley tested heartworm positive. In a shelter stretched beyond capacity, that diagnosis was a death sentence. She was placed on the county kill list, her life deemed not worth saving.<br/>But Riley’s life was worth saving.<br/>We couldn’t let her story end there. Heartworm is treatable, but the shelter wouldn’t fund the care she needed. So we stepped in. We took Riley in, gave her the medical attention she deserved, and watched her fight her way back to health.
