Riley!'s Story

Meet Riley!

Riley has had an extremely difficult start to life. She came into the Western Riverside Shelter as a stray covered in cuts and deep scars. She was only 8 months old when she got to the shelter - it was absolutely heartbreaking. I will link the video here of what she looked like the first day I met her:

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTMU4CNBb/

In addition to being completely physically beat up, she was emotionally shut down too. She shook in the corner of her kennel, it was just heartbreaking. 12 days after she arrived at the shelter, she was then urgently red listed. She needed out of the shelter - immediately.

She absolutely had an angel watching over her because two hours before she was scheduled to leave this earth - her life was saved. Ophelia (now Riley) was SAVED by an incredible couple who agreed to foster her. She finally had her chance.

Since leaving the shelter, Riley has become a whole new dog. Her scars have healed, she is such a love, great on leash, and loves to be close to you.

From her fosters:

"Riley is a little warrior!!! Although she’s little, she has a big personality that is still growing! She is one of the most affectionate dogs I’ve ever been around and she loves to show you with tons of licks. Luckily she is not a barker, just on occasion. She does well both indoors and outdoors. One of her favorite hobbies is carrying around her food bowls to let you know she’s hungry. She has big beautiful brown eyes. At times she is still timid, based on her history it’s understandable but a majority of the time she is playful. Shes a good cuddler as well if you’re watching tv or laying around in bed, she is very sweet. Constantly licking us out our dogs to show her affection. Potty trained about 90% (she had a few instances still but very rare)."

She can't wait to find her forever!!!!

For more information on the rescue, visit:

mcdonoughrescue.org

Or on social media at:

Instagram:
@kelsmcdonough_
@themcdonoughrescue

We believe that this allows both the new pet and new family to all feel supported.
