Meet Rigatoni, cute name, cute dog - total cattle dog/blue heeler - the perfect dog for you!<br/><br/>Rigatoni is about 3-years old, prime of life, best time for you to adopt him because he's beyond that horrible puppy cattle dog thingy and into the, okay, this is my family and they seem okay and I'll love them even if they don't measure up to my cattle dog desires but whatever. So, if you know cattle dogs, they are athletic, smart, wily control freaks who tend to have a small social circle within which they will navigate. Rigatoni is a heeler through and through, if you know you know IYKYK.<br/><br/>So, Rigatoni is actually a people person (dog) and he seems to love small people (kids) as much as anyone. We think, of course not knowing what a cattle dog thinks, he finds kids non-threatening and full of fun, which of course kids are to most dogs! <br/><br/>We don’t know exactly what Rigatoni's early life looked like, but we know his original owners didn’t like him. They mostly left him outdoors in rural Oklahoma to fend for himself, where he was pestered by stray packs of dogs and mean humans. He came to us with very little meat on his bones and quite a bit of distrust for strangers. We understand why he’s hesitant to trust people and other dogs after learning what he’s endured. <br/><br/>Rigatoni loves food and enjoys earning treats by being a good boy! He has excellent leash manners and would be a perfect hiking, camping or trail running buddy. His preference is to be in the great outdoors where it’s peaceful and there aren’t a lot of strange people and dogs looking to make friends with him. A human partner who enjoys training and could teach him some tricks and build his confidence would be exceptional! One thing’s for sure- he needs a big yard because zoomies are his favorite THING!! He is speedy too!! And he knows how to create a ruckus when he’s cheering himself on! <br/><br/>Rigatoni is potty trained, behaves well in the house and can be left alone if need be. He has a crate and takes his meals there but doesn’t love when the door is closed. If he’s the only dog, he really wouldn’t need his crate anyway. This boy is super affectionate and goofy. <br/><br/>He has excellent recall because he sticks close like a true Velcro dog. He would prefer if visitors were a rarity, but he doesn’t mind them as long as they give him space to warm up on his own terms. <br/><br/>Rigatoni is neutered and up to date on his vaccines.
