Ricky's Story

Ricky has a look you’ll never forget—and a story you’ll wish you could rewrite.

This black-and-white pitbull mix puppy spent the start of his life outside, tucked into a worn plastic dog house, doing his best to stay warm, safe, and hopeful. While other puppies were learning about couches and cuddles, Ricky was learning how to make do. And somehow, through it all, he kept his sweetness.

Now that he’s in rescue, Ricky is discovering the world he always deserved—and it turns out, he loves it.

He’s the perfect mix of goofy and gentle, with one ear that stands straight up like it’s always on alert, and the other that flops over like he just can’t take life too seriously. It’s basically a built-in mood indicator: part curious adventurer, part snuggly baby.

Ricky is still figuring things out—like how soft blankets can be, how fun toys are, and how amazing it feels to be loved on—but he approaches everything with a wagging tail and an open heart. He doesn’t dwell on his past; he’s too busy soaking up every bit of kindness he can find.

What he needs now is a home that will keep showing him what it means to belong. Someone patient, kind, and ready to watch him grow into the confident, happy dog he’s meant to be. Someone who will make sure he never has to wonder where he sleeps at night again.

Ricky has already proven he can get through a tough beginning. Now he’s ready for the easy part—the part where he gets to be your dog.

One ear up, one ear down, and a whole lot of love in between.

Ricky is current on age appropriate vaccines and flea/tick/heartwork preventative. He will also be neutered prior to adoption.
