Rickie's Story

Rickie (F) Is a female black lab mix who sadly came into our care with her brother, Toby, after their human, long-time Charley's volunteer and supporter John Wells, passed away. Recently, her brother Toby also passed away, leaving sweet Ricky all alone at the shelter.

As you can imagine, Rickie misses her dad, brother and home greatly!

Rickie is a 65-pound female, spayed, approximately 11 years old. Rickie is a bit shy and is frightened by loud noises, so a quieter adult home Ideally that has another confident, respectful dog may be best for her.

Rickie loves to go for leash walks and ride in the car. She has a bit of arthritis and takes Dasuquin (joint supplement) for it.
Rickie is friendly with people and dogs but needs a cat-free home. She is so very sweet and has lost so much. Please give her a chance!

Ricky is spayed and up to date on her rabies vaccine but are unsure at this point if she has received a recent distemper combo vaccine and 4DX test (for heartworm and tick-borne disease). We're in the process of trying to track down their recent vet records. If needed, Charley’s Strays will cover any additional vetting to bring Rickie up to date.

Please consider opening your home to either fostering and / or adopting Rickie!
