Rick James (RJ) is an adorably sweet, happy-go-lucky mixed breed young boy. He was born approximately February 2023, making him only 2 yrs old! He's a stocky boy at 45 pounds, packed into that little package. But he's mighty and is determined to fit right on your lap! RJ loves nothing more than to get all of his affection and cuddles up close and personal from you, preferably from your lap or from sitting with you, next to you, on you, touching you. (You get the picture). If you are looking for a fur buddy that will follow you around and go places with you...RJ is your guy! This boy is such a lover, such a sweetie, there is no way you will not fall in love after meeting him! <br/><br/>The life he comes from unfortunately did not provide him much if any training, so he will need an adopter that is patient, consistent and kind. One that will continue his current training in basic commands, leash training and rules on your expectations of how to be a good boy in a home. He is not housetrained but has been come a long way with this since arriving at WAG. It will take some time, however, he is extremely smart and treat motivated, so we know he will do well with the right adopter(s). He has been doing wonderfully with his training since working with our volunteers and trainers. RJ has also proved to be dog friendly, making several successful doggy play partners since coming to WAG. He actually is quite non-reactive toward the other dogs for the most part. We do not know how he is with cats, nor farm animals small or large. <br/><br/>RJ was found to be Heartworm positive upon arrival. However, no worries! He underwent treatment to beat the Heartworm which was a success! No further vet appointments are required for his Heartworm positive diagnosis, except for regular follow-up physicals. He has successfully completed his treatment to date and there should be no lasting effects to RJ's health! He is doing wonderfully!<br/><br/>RJ has become such a lovely, playful and affectionate dog who absolutely loves hooman affection.
