Ricco- adoption fee waived's Story
You guys!! I finally made it! Out of my shell and earning my spot amongst the adoptables!

You see, my beginning, it wasn’t the best. I was running stray with 2 other dogs. It was clear we were left. It’s likely that we never had any people or a home of our own. That’s the unfortunate reality for dogs like myself. I was brought in by animal control in Texas after they captured us. My other two friends handled this well. Me, on the other hand, paralyzed by fear. Scared, hiding, shaking, and unsure of what was going to happen to me next. I’ve never had a chapter like this one, so I’ll need a human who understands this. One who will let me hide in a corner if I’m scared when I first get to your house. One that will recognize if I “whale eye” in fear. My foster mom has allowed me such a safe and comfortable space to decompress over the last 3 weeks. Each day I surprise her with new behaviors. My tail is no longer tucked, I’m no longer paralyzed in fear, I’m not trying to escape out the door or windows, I’m no longer running for the love. It’s taken me a couple weeks to get here, but now! I take car rides, go on weekend adventures, I take long walks on the beach, I scatter toys throughout the house, and accept all the bonding with my human. I love my canine foster sister, she’s about double my size, but she’s a fun playmate. She’s helped teach me confidence too!

I’m now crate free and accident free in the house.

I’m a small dog learning a whole new way of life. A home I’d benefit from is one with a friendly, confident canine to follow and a confident human who helps me learn confidence and appropriate behavior. I’d do amazing things with some formal obedience training (just because it can help me further gain confidence). What’s not for me: someone who is going to get anxious and give up on me. Someone who expects me to be a fully trained and confident dog right away.

Do you have the love and patience to see me through until I’m certified perfect? I’m a 15lb 1-ish year old boy. Fully vaccinated and neutered.

Applications to match with me starts here:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/KBSC/Dog
