Rhys (pronounced Reese)'s Story

Rhys is an adorable 4 year old cocker boy who is much loved by his family but they realize that their living environment is the cause of his reactivity to noise.

Rhys family lives in a condo in the city and there are always dogs barking as well as the usual sounds of city life. His family said when they travel with Rhys to visit friends who live in single -family homes in more rural locations, he is significantly more relaxed.

Rhys walks well on a leash but is reactive when on a leash. He is fine with other dogs at doggie daycare and enjoys that experience.

Rhys family says he is great in the house. He loves to sit on the sofa next to his owners or find a sunny spot for a nap. He likes to play with his toys and, like all cockers, he loves to have people play with him. He is housebroken and crate-trained. Rhys is not fond of cats.

Rhys vet has diagnosed him with epilepsy. He takes Keppra (an anti-seizure medication) and has not had a seizure since January. He also takes Prozac to help him deal with his reactivity to sounds. Rhys has had several yeast/bacteria ear infections and needs weekly ear cleanings.

Rhys owners love him and are only considering giving him up for adoption because they feel strongly that he will be happier and more relaxed in a quieter home that is more suited to his needs.

For questions or more information, please call our office at 603-547-3363.
