Rey's Story
Rey is a beautiful 7-year-old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix who came to us after her family moved into an apartment and felt they could no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. She weighs 53.9 pounds and is ready to find a family to call her own.

Rey is a very sweet girl, although she can be a little shy when first meeting new people. Give her a few minutes to warm up, and you'll quickly see her loving, eager-to-please personality come through. If you're familiar with Shepherds, you'll recognize a lot of those typical Shepherd traits in Rey—she is smart, loyal, sensitive, and happiest when she knows what is expected of her.

Rey is nervous around other dogs and will often bark when she sees them. We believe this behavior comes more from fear and uncertainty than aggression. She simply doesn't trust unfamiliar dogs right away and will need someone who understands her and is willing to give her time and appropriate introductions.

Rey previously lived around children, but because she can be a little unsure in new situations, we feel she would be most comfortable in a home with older children.

The good news is that Rey already has a great foundation! She is crate trained, house trained, walks on a leash, and knows basic commands. She is also spayed and current on vaccinations.

At 7 years old, Rey is past the puppy stage but still has plenty of love and companionship to give. She would especially love a Shepherd-savvy family who understands that sometimes the most loyal dogs just need a little time to decide you're their person.
