Rex's Story

DIAMOND IN THE RUFF: Rex is a 1-year-old hound mix with a big heart and a lot of love to give - once he feels safe. He's had a tough start to life and is currently working through some deep anxiety, especially around new people. Rex is looking for an adult-only home, where he can get comfortable in his new surroundings without many distractions. Rex is currently on medications to help manage his anxiety, and he'll need a patient adopter who's willing to go slow and give him time to build trust. It may take several meet-and-greets before Rex feels comfortable - but once he knows you, his goofy, affectionate personality shines! He's a total ham who loves snuggling on the couch, napping in your lap, and playing with his favorite toys.<br/>Rex would thrive in a calm, low-traffic home with someone experienced in handling shy or reactive dogs. He's not the kind of dog who'll love everyone right away - but if you give him the chance, he'll become your most loyal and loving companion. Rex is waiting for that special someone who sees beyond his fears and into his heart. REX'S NEEDS: Adult Only Home * Daily Medications * Patient and Understanding Owner * Continued Training * Regular Mental and Physical Enrichment * Calm and Quiet Home *
