Rex's Story

Rex is approximately 3 years old and weighs around 20 pounds

Rex is getting neutered end of January. He currently doesn't live with any other cats or dogs but has previously.

He doesn't like being in his crate and is almost fully housetrained.

Rex is a very friendly, loving pup. Will show this by his need to give hugs and kisses.
He will put both paws around your neck and go in for that kiss. He loves his walks and any outdoor activity. Walks quite good on a leash but wants to get going so pulls a little. With some training he would be perfect.

He is also fine being inside as he is more than happy to cuddle up and chill with someone.
He likes to follow you around so he does not like to miss out on anything.
He gets a little anxious when you leave him alone. He will cry and bark for a few minutes after you leave but will quiet down soon after.
He has not had any issues with being left alone free in house. He was excellent around his fosters 2 yr old granddaughter. Although he is still very playful he did not knock her down, he was just full of kisses. He does however have times when he will jump up and this is usually when you come home.

It took Rex awhile to feel comfortable about eating food and taking treats. He has shown no signs of resource guarding with food or toys.

Rex loves his outdoors so much he can be a bit of an escape artist given the chance.
A fully fenced yard would be needed.

Rex would be a great addition to any home. With patience and love and a few treats, he would be the best all around good dog.
His potential will be endless with guidance. He loves his people.

K9 Advocacy's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION PROCESS Adoption Application: Complete the adoption form at the bottom of this page Phone Screening: Once your adoption application has been received, selected applicants will be contacted by one of K9 Adoption Team members who will do a phone screening with you. This is an opportunity to go over your adoption application and discuss the K9 adoption process. References will be called Meeting the K9 Advocacy Dog: If you meet the preliminary screening criteria, the Adoption Coordinator will set up a chat between the K9 Adoption team, the foster and the applicant and an initial meeting between you and the K9 Advocacy dog will be set up. This gives you a chance to meet the dog and gives the foster parent or team member a chance to meet you. We do prefer to do the meeting at the applicants residence so the adoptable dog has a chance to meet any other animals in the home and to complete the home check at the same time. After the meeting, you will have 24 hours to decide if you would like to: - Puppies - proceed with adoption - Adult dogs - proceed with the two week adoption trial Two week trial period will begin: Arrangements will be made to start the 2 week adoption trial within 3 days. You will continue to use your chat with the adoption team to answer any questions you have while completing the trial. The adoption fee must be paid prior to the 2 week trial starting. The adoption fee can be sent to k9advocacymanitoba@gmail.com with the dogs name included in the message line. Finalizing the Adoption: For puppie and for adults; if both you and the team member agree to move forward with the adoption, arrangements can be made to finalize the adoption. Adoption Fee: Puppy: $500 (under 6 months) Teen/Adult: $400 (over 6 months) Small Breed: $500 Senior: $200 (over 7 years) Adoption fees include: Spay / Neuter Parvo/Distemper Vaccines Rabies Vaccines 2-3 Dewormings 4DX testing if required 6 weeks free Pet Insurance Please note: Adoption fees for puppies under 6 months will not be refunded. Adoption fees for adult dogs over 6 months will be refunded 50% if the dog is returned before the completion of the two week trial. This process is to ensure that those applying are really considering the dedication to taking a new furbaby into their home. If at anytime an agreement is met that is different to the above this is to be completed in writing by adoptee and adoption coordinator.
