REX's Story

Rex (A506887) already had his forever home. He did everything right. He was adopted as a tiny six week old puppy back in 2019 and grew up exactly how we all hope our shelter puppies do.: Loved, safe and in a home. He wasn’t waiting for a family. He had one. Then life changed in a way no one could have prepared for. Rex’s owner passed away unexpectedly, and in an instant, the only home he has ever known was gone. Not because he was unwanted. Not because he did anything wrong. Simply because forever, for him, ended too soon. Now Rex is back in a shelter, surrounded by strangers, and he could not be more out of place if he tried. The jet black puppy we once knew now has a salt and pepper muzzle, proof of years spent loved. He isn’t meant to start over, but here he is, trying to understand why he had to. We want to give Rex a new forever, and he deserves that much after only knowing a life of love. He is good with both males and female dogs. Please share Rex’s story. Help us find him another forever, one that lasts for the rest of his life. Rex is guesstimated to be 6 years old and weighs 50 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative. Ready to meet Rex? All you have to do is stop by our shelter at 4950 Triana Blvd and head to our dog areas. You can find him in kennel D28. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID
