Resolution's Story

Did you make a New Years Resolution? Did it include adopting a beautiful young Akbash female? Resolution the 1 year old female white Akbash is your solution to crossing off one of your resolutions! On New Years Eve-Eve word came in about a tribe of dogs who were abandoned on a property when their caretakers moved away. There were 11 nursing puppies and their moms and other dogs too. Resolution was among them. When rescuers went to get the nursing puppies out first, Resolution saw her chance for a breakout and somehow knew she would land in a wonderful place that she had never experienced. She jumped into the car and wouldn't come out, so she got to go and be rescued that day as well! Akbash dogs are large, white-coated guardian dogs from Turkey. They were bred to protect livestock and sheep from predators and are known to be alert, independent and courageous. The breed closely resembles the more common Great Pyrenees. They have a wedge-shaped head, dark eyes, triangular drop ears, and a long tail that often curls up and over their back. Resolution has never known the comforts of sleeping inside a house or any of the things that go along with that until now, but her foster family members are pros at showing new dogs the ropes and she is already house trained, crate trained, not destructive, and knows "sit". She’s a sweet girl that is great with other dogs, cats, and kids and will be a wonderful addition to just about any household with a fenced in yard. Please consider taking Resolution as your solution to that New Years Resolution and allow her to experience the wonderful active things that your family loves to do. You won't be sorry, submit your adoption application today!

Giant Breed Experienced Homes Only.

Big Dogs Huge Paws, inc's Adoption Policy
Many of the gentle giants that come into our rescue have been neglected or abused. Others have simply been abandoned by their owners due to a divorce, a new baby, moving, or natural disaster. We are often told that they got “too big” or “too expensive” and many of the dogs below come to us with very little training. Despite their past, rescue dogs are incredibly forgiving and very eager to please. They have so much to give and are all very special. We are looking for forever homes and permanent families who will love their new addition unconditionally and give them the love and support they need and deserve for the rest of their lives. Adoption Requirements and Guidelines a. Applicants must have never been convicted of any animal abuse laws. b. All potential adopters must completely fill out and sign the adoption application and the information must be verified and approved by a BDHPI representative. c. All appli
