Rena's Story

*11/20/25 - Meet Rena Sweet, Snuggly, and Learning to Feel Safe
Rena is a tiny 5-year-old, 5-pound sweetheart who is settling into foster care and showing us what a loving little soul she really is. She absolutely melts for belly rubs and has already made herself at home snuggling with anyone who offers a cozy lap.
She does have one important quirk: Rena resource guards, especially around food. Right now she prefers to keep her meals to herself and will growl to make sure others respect her space. Shes managing well with simple structure having her breakfast in a pen with a crate attached and shes already learning that she doesnt have to worry about anyone taking things from her.
The shelter also shared that Rena was recently involved in a dog fight through no fault of her own. She was scared and reacted when someone tried to separate the dogs. She had a few minor punctures, but the vet cleared her and shes doing great now. Despite everything shes been through, she has been nothing but loving with the people caring for her.
One important note: Rena cannot go to a home with big dogs. Shes a tiny girl whos already been hurt once, and we wont put her in another situation where she could be injured. Small-dog homes only, please.
Shes still decompressing, letting her guard down, and showing those soft, snuggly sides of her personality. With patience, structure, and understanding, Rena is going to blossom into an incredibly devoted companion.
Interested in adopting Rena.
