Remi's Story

Meet Remi — A Survivor Learning How to Be a Dog Again

Remi needs a foster and/or adopter. Remi’s life began in survival mode. Just days before the New Year, she was found north of Jerome, Idaho, in an area where several severely emaciated dogs had been trapped only weeks earlier. Temperatures had dropped to freezing, and Remi was doing everything she could to stay alive.

A man at a nearby shooting range noticed movement coming from an old mattress. When he looked closer, he discovered Remi curled inside it, trying to keep warm and hidden from the cold. She was thin, frightened, and exhausted, but she allowed herself to be coaxed out and helped.

Remi was taken to a veterinarian, where she spent several days receiving care and stabilization. She is microchipped and will be spayed and fully vaccinated. Today, she is safe in a foster home and truly beginning to thrive.

About Remi

Approximately 1 year old

Female

Pit Bull or American Staffordshire Terrier mix (breed based on appearance)

Microchipped; spay and vaccinations scheduled

Currently in foster care

Housebroken

Crate trained

Remi’s foster says she is an amazing dog. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle, often greeting her people with morning hugs. She enjoys being close and is happiest when spending quality time with her humans.

Remi is active and playful and absolutely loves fetch. She knows how to retrieve the ball, bring it back, and drop it, and she already knows several basic commands including sit, lay down, and shake. She does best playing fetch one-on-one, as she can be possessive of the ball during playtime and prefers that activity to be just between her and her person.

She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and generally does well around other animals. She may show food guarding if other dogs’ bowls are left down, but otherwise eats peacefully. Given how long she had to struggle to survive on her own in the desert, this behavior is understandable and manageable with structure and routine.

Remi is a respectful chewer and only chews on the toys she is given. She is currently dealing with some dry skin, which is being monitored and managed in foster care.

Despite everything she has endured, Remi is loving, eager to learn, and deeply bonded to her people. She will do best in a home that understands her past, offers patience and consistency, and continues helping her build confidence and security.

Remi survived against the odds. Now she deserves a future filled with warmth, stability, and belonging.

To apply to foster or adopt Remi, please visit:
www.friendsfureveranimalrescue.net

If you cannot foster or adopt, sharing Remi’s story helps her find the home she deserves.
