Reishi's Story

Hi, my name is Reishi! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Timid, Affectionate, Goofy
-Can Live with Kids: Kids ages 12+. Initial introductions done at WHS to ensure it's a good match.
-Can Live with Cats: Yes, with extended slow and supervised introductions and interactions.
-Can Live with Dogs: Not Recommended at this time pending further testing at WHS.
-Can do Apartment Living: Condo or larger space might be considered but in general husky breeds can be quite vocal and need more space to thrive.
-Potty Trained: Appears to be!
-Bite History: Nope.
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Nope.
-Energy Level: Medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a Spay and Microchip
-Additional Information:
Reishi is a beautiful 6-year-old Husky with soulful eyes and a heart full of love. She came to the shelter through no fault of her own after a member of her previous family developed serious allergies, and now she’s ready for her next chapter. Like many Huskies, Reishi will thrive best with someone who understands the breed and their unique quirks, independent streaks, expressive personalities, and all. While she may show a little “stranger danger” at first, don’t let that fool you. Give her a bit of time and patience, and she quickly blossoms into a loving, quirky companion who enjoys connection and affection. Though she’s a bit more mature at 6 years old, Reishi still has plenty of love to give and a lot of life left to share with the right person.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
