Reggie's Story

Courtesy Post Only by Denton Humane Society for Denton Animal Shelter

Meet the precious little Reggie. His story is truly heartbreaking. Neighbors watched as his family packed up and moved away, leaving him behind. For days, Reggie waited on the porch of the home he once knew, clinging to hope that they would return. Though he wandered the streets a few times, he always came back to that porch, faithfully waiting for the life he lost. The good Samaritans couldn't watch any longer, and a call to Animal Services was made. When our Animal Services officers arrived, they found a dog who was not just abandoned but broken. Reggie was terrified, confused, and completely shut down. His world changed overnight, and he didn’t understand why. He was deeply wary of strangers and his surroundings, frozen in fear and grief. When put into the quieter office area, Reggie immediately fell asleep. This sweet boy is in desperate need of a quiet home where he can relax and feel safe. With the help of our staff and volunteers, Reggie has come from being a shut-down dog to rediscovering trust and confidence. He has started to come out of his shell more, and deserves someone who will fight for him, someone who will not give up. He is leash trained, housetrained, indifferent to other dogs and wary of strangers. If you have the training, resources and heart to FOSTER OR ADOPT Reggie, please step forward. He is waiting for his second chance. We will continue to share updates as we learn more about him. For now, we ask you to share his story and help us find the hero he so desperately needs. To inquire about Reggie, you can contact the shelter at 940-349-7594 or email Jason.Hernandez@cityofdenton.com or email animal.services@cityofdenton.com. Little Reggie is waiting for you!
