Reese's Story

Hey there! I’m Reese! My friends at K9 Kismet suggested I give this internet matchmaking thing a try so, here goes... I'm a young (3.5 year old) spunky Australian Cattle Dog/American Pit Bull Terrier/Supermutt mix. At least that's what one of those fancy DNA tests said. At 40 lbs. I'd describe myself as compact. The perfect size really. I'm a happy gal. I smile a lot. I know my basics- sit, down, stay, come. I'm affectionate with people I know and trust but I don’t “hug” on the first date. I LOVE to play! Stuffies, a ball... seriously, BRING IT ON! I’m always down for adventure! Long walks, a hike... LET'S DO IT! I might get a little excited at first but I settle quickly into a polite walker and always “check in” with my handler when we are out and about. I'm an avid lizard hunter. Occasionally I feel inspired to run after other fast-moving things so I'm looking for a human that will help me avoid the urge to give chase. Sometimes I want to jump up or bark at people I don’t know. My friends call it "intermittent stranger danger". Because my friends love me and want me to have the chance to be my very best self, they raised some money to help pay to send me to training. I'm smart, treat motivated and ready to do the work but I need a partner to train with. Could that be you? If you like to have fun and are looking for a ride or die sidekick to adventure with let’s meet and find out!

Reese in a nutshell:

Age: 3.5 years
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/American Pit Bull Terrier
Sex: Spayed female
Weight: 40 lbs.
Current location: Long Beach Animal Care Services (ID #A654531) in Long Beach, CA

Medical: No known medical issues

Behavior: Happy, fun, playful dog. Would do best with a confident, experienced owner with an active lifestyle. Needs time to develop trust. Due to her active play drive, a home without small children would be best. We believe she would do well in a home with another playful balanced dog, after proper introductions of course. No cats please. Can be a little exuberant on a leash at first, but settles into a nice walk. Smart, treat motivated and learns quickly.

Reese has been living at Long Beach Animal Care Services in Long Beach, CA for the past year. She has a lot of friends at the shelter but she deserves a family to call her very own.
