Ree's Story
Meet our new friend Ree!
Ree was named for Ree Drummond who donated the funds to build the Pawhuska Animal Welfare-4 Paws shelter.

This is the first time this sweet two to three year old, liver spotted girl has ever had a name. Her previous owner never bothered to give her one. He also never bothered to give her much care, proper nutrition, or to spay her. Ree ended up having 10 mixed breed puppies.

The man who had her was required to surrender the now weaned puppies to 4 Paws and when they went to collect that little family, Ree took the opportunity to bolt out of the house and straight into Susie's car. She was not going to be left behind!
You may think this was the act of a devoted mother following her puppies, but Ree had weaned her babies and really had no more interest in motherhood. We believe she just wanted out of a bad situation.

The puppies will be going to an out-of-state rescue to find their new homes. We are thrilled to welcome sweet Ree into our home and rescue to help her heal and find her perfect family.

Ree is very thin. We can fix that. Ree is very tired. We can fix that. Ree is thankfully heartworm negative. She is here settling in, eating three meals a day, getting lots of rest, and enjoying a lot of pampering.

As soon as her body heals from poor nutrition and feeding 10 hungry puppies, she will be spayed and ready for a new home. She appears to be house trained, she is dog and cat friendly, and she is incredibly waggy and affectionate.

We cannot wait to see this beautiful girl find her happily-ever-after. She will never be a nameless afterthought again. She is going to be someone's very best friend and we know she'll never look back.

If you are interested in giving Ree the best new life possible, please complete our online application. The link is under our "about" tab. Homes in the area of NE or Central Oklahoma preferred. Long distance placements will be considered with exceptional references. Transport is the responsibility of the adopter. We will not ship.
