She adores attention, melts for belly rubs, and has the calm, easygoing nature that makes her feel like the perfect house hound.<br/><br/>Reba appears to be housebroken, as she has had no accidents in her room. She’s a lovely, mild-mannered dog who is happiest when she’s close to her people, enjoying affection and quiet companionship.<br/><br/>Before coming to Lighthouse, Reba survived a life-threatening medical emergency that required urgent surgery. During that surgery, it was discovered that she had lost her puppies, and the complications had made her critically ill. Thanks to quick veterinary care, Reba’s life was saved—and throughout her recovery, she has been patient, gentle, and incredibly cooperative, truly good as gold to care for.<br/><br/>Reba is also healing from pressure sores caused by being kept on hard surfaces while severely underweight. She continues to gain strength and comfort each day. Despite everything she has endured, her spirit remains soft and loving. Although she had lost her own puppies during a failed pregnancy, her nurturing personality is apparent in her excitement and interest in other puppies she encounters. This is just a glimpse into the depth of her gentle heart.<br/><br/>Reba has a prey drive and is a bit strong on the leash as a result. No cats for this girl, but she is otherwise a quiet, well-mannered companion who will thrive in a calm, loving home.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a kind, resilient, affectionate dog who deserves a safe place to heal and be cherished, Reba may be your perfect match.<br/>---<br/><br/>We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.<br/><br/>Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $500 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.
