Raven Courtesy Listing's Story
Contact Information
Mike Pulverente – 989-621-4741

Pet Name: Raven
Breed: Pit Mix
Age: Almost 2 years old
Weight: Approximately 65–75 lbs
Gender: Male
Vaccination Status: Due for updates in April
House Training: Fully housebroken

About Raven:
Raven is a big, energetic young dog with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He is sweet, playful, clever, and loves being around his people. Raven greets his family with excitement—often bringing a toy, wagging his whole body, and prancing around happily. He enjoys being told he’s a good boy and loves attention, especially chest rubs.

Raven has plenty of energy and thrives in environments where he has room to run and explore. With a large fenced yard, he enjoys spending hours outside running, investigating, chewing big sticks, and playing fetch. He also enjoys walks and being out in nature. Raven travels well and rides calmly in the car. He has even vacationed at the Great Lakes and did great sleeping in a rental home in his dog bed.

He sleeps quietly through the night on the couch and is completely housebroken, never having had an accident in the house. Raven also enjoys other animals and currently lives with both dogs and a cat. He loves playing with other dogs and even shares peaceful sleeping space with the household cat.

Personality & Behavior:
Raven is still very much a big puppy and has a lot of enthusiasm for life. Because of this, he can become overly excited and tends to jump and nip when he wants attention or is trying to play. While this behavior is playful and not intended to harm, it can be strong due to his size and energy level.

He also plays very rough with other dogs, which has made it difficult for him to live comfortably with older or more fragile dogs. Raven is extremely food motivated and does have food aggression toward other animals, so he must be fed separately. In his current home, he is fed in his crate to avoid conflict.

Raven can also be cautious with new people at first and may need time to build trust. Allowing him to approach and sniff an open hand before petting helps him feel more comfortable.

Training & Management:
Raven already knows commands such as “sit” and “leave it.” He responds well to positive reinforcement and treats. He currently wears a collar that can beep or vibrate to assist with training corrections, which has been helpful for his family. He also eats from a slow-feed bowl and requires durable toys due to his strong chewing.

Raven must be crated when left home alone and during times when food is being prepared in the house to prevent food-related issues.

The Ideal Home for Raven:
Raven needs an active home committed to continuing his training and helping him develop better manners. He would benefit greatly from one-on-one attention and structured behavioral training.

His ideal home would include:

A large fenced yard or space to run and play

An active dog companion similar in size, age, and energy level

Experienced dog owners comfortable working with training and structure

No young children (under 12) due to his jumping and excitement

No elderly dogs or people who could be knocked over

Raven is a loving dog who has been deeply cared for by his family. With the right environment, structure, and training, he has the potential to thrive and become an incredible companion for the right home.

Courtesy Listing Notice: This animal is not in the care or custody of the Humane Society.
