Ranger 's Story
Meet Ranger – your real-life Bolt with wolf-of-the-north vibes! Please contact email at end of bio!

Ranger is an all-white shepherd/husky-type mix with striking bright blue eyes and a heart just as big as his presence. He came to the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter looking like he’d just defeated a White Walker, and headed into a foster home to recover from his bravery.
This fun-loving, sweet, and affectionate guy has been recovering in foster care from an injury likely sustained while he was a stray. He’s now fully healed and ready for his next great adventure. In his foster home, Ranger lives with two male pitties who he thinks are the absolute coolest. He loves to wrestle, play with toys, and has excellent dog manners during playtime.
Ranger is curious, eager to learn, and very people-oriented. He has a serious case of FOMO and will happily follow you from room to room, no matter how sleepy he is, just to be part of the action. Because of this, Ranger would do best in a home where he isn’t left alone for long periods of time—he truly thrives with companionship and being included in daily life.
He’s been working on basic commands like sit and paw, is potty trained, and continues to thrive with consistency and positive reinforcement. Like many dogs, he may need a little patience as he adjusts to a new environment.
While Ranger was shy when he first entered foster care, he has truly blossomed into an outgoing, happy guy. His future family should be committed to continuing to build his confidence through training, enrichment, and fun activities. He loves being outdoors—especially running through the snow—and has shown a strong interest in chasing squirrels, so a secure yard and supervision are important.
Ranger has done well with kids, though he can get excited when there’s lots of commotion. He has not been tested with cats, so his compatibility with feline friends is currently unknown.
Ranger’s ideal home is an active family or individual who enjoys outdoor adventures, hikes, trips, and engaging activities—and who wants a loyal shadow by their side. He needs space to burn off his shepherd energy and humans who are excited to make him part of their everyday world.
If Ranger sounds like the perfect fit for your family and you’re ready to meet your new adventure buddy, please contact his foster mom at nikkibutchart@gmail.com
